Taking my Old Testament sermon to church.

Cracked open a new book tonight — David M. King’s Your Old Testament Needs to Get Saved: A Handbook for Preaching Christ from the Old Testament, a recent publication via 9Marks and Moody Publishers. Within the primary convictions I aim to uphold throughout however long God allows me to minister, chief among them is assuredly the conviction that all of Scripture is pure Christ. No, that isn’t just a saccharine phrase to suggest that I plan on tacking on a “sprinkling of Jesus” at the conclusion of every sermon I deliver. Rather, that is a core tenet by which I aim to show, through every text, that Christ alone is the fulfillment of all the Law and the Prophets and the Writings. He’s the victor among all the historical failures. He’s the true and better Prophet, Priest, and King. This book looks to encourage and strengthen that conviction. And I’m grateful for that. I can’t wait to share the wealth from this little volume on the Christo-centricity of preaching the Word.
