I wanted to write a brief post to share with you a speaking opportunity I have this coming Sunday, during which I’ll be preaching from a boxing ring. Let me explain.
For a few years now, my church has supported the mission of 5 Stones Fight Club, a ministry in Annville, Pennsylvania, that specializes in sharing the love of Jesus Christ through the vehicles of mixed martial arts and fitness. Even that sentence, though, is an inadequate description of all that Shane Manney and the rest of the 5 Stones crew endeavor to do for the kingdom of God. On top of wrestling and fitness training, other avenues of ministry include international humanitarian missions, trauma medical training, disaster relief, and specialized tactical training. Shane’s years of combat training and military expertise, combined with his desire to reach young men with the truth of the gospel, eventually materialized into what 5 Stones is and does today. Ever since the pandemic, an essential part of the mission of 5 Stones has been holding worship services in the gym for any and all to come and hear about the grace and truth of Jesus that changes lives.
Without burying the lede any further, I will be preaching at 5 Stones Church this Sunday, April 6. While a boxing ring might be the most unusual platform from which I’ve delivered a sermon, it will be the same words of God’s law and God’s gospel that you’ll get out of me. If you are in the area or nearby, I invite you to join me at 5 Stones Church, where, Lord willing, you’ll hear the good news that no matter how many times you get knocked down in life, the ultimate fight has already been won for us.

Lord willing, I’ll see you there. Grace and peace to you, my friends.
This is awesome! While I’m not affiliated with them in anyway, I did order and receive a shirt from the company Jesus & Jiu Jitsu out of Denton, TX. They combine bjj and the gospel. Might be worth looking into as well; just a thought!
