Although those within my congregation and my immediate circles of friends know, I’ve yet to share the exciting news that I will be embarking on a short-term mission trip to Peru this summer! In fact, it’s tomorrow! From July 12 through 20, a team of six from my church, including me, will join the crew of GOS3M in some remote regions of inland Peru to spread the gospel and share the love of Jesus through some light construction projects, children’s ministry outings, worship services, preach, teaching, and much more. Speaking on behalf of the rest of the team, we are thrilled that we’ve been afforded the opportunity to play a role, however small, in the expansion of God’s kingdom around the globe.
Ever since I first met Esther Leininger and heard of the mission that GOS3M is invested in with the people of Peru, I was enthralled and, indeed, felt called to partner with them in some way. This foray into short-term missions is the manifestation of that calling. God has been at work in my heart and the hearts of the rest of the team, preparing us for this endeavor. We are all eager to see how Christ is going to work in us and through us, as we seek to make much of his name and his grace.
As you might expect, things are going to be a lot quieter around here for the span of roughly two weeks, as I join the team in Peru and spend some much-needed time recovering once I get back. Consider this a PSA for that: if you don’t see any posts for a while, this is why! I will be sharing thoughts and photos from the trip upon my return, so be sure to stay tuned for that. Most of all, please be in prayer!
Pray for the church team that we’d be faithful and flexible no matter what goes right or wrong throughout the trip and that we’d be filled with Christ’s compassion for the least, the lost, the last, and the little.
Pray for the trip itself and all the logistics of international travel.
Pray for the hearts of the locals in Peru that God’s Spirit would already be at work in them to hear the message of grace, the only message that saves.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support. Grace and peace!
Praying for you every day! May the words the Holy Spirit gives you reach fertile ground in the hearts of those who hear them.
Safe travels, brother, and may the Lord use this trip for the sake of his kingdom.
