#88: A personal update and God’s gospel in our mess.
In this edition of the Ministry Minded Podcast, I share a brief personal update announcing my upcoming break from seminary studies. After reading and studying and writing for assignments all year — from January till now, with no real rest in between — I am taking a much-needed break from course work to refresh and recharge. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all that I’ve learned and experienced this year during all my courses through Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS). I can honestly say that I have grown in my faith and convictions — and for that, I am extremely grateful. But after all that has transpired in 2020, the added pressure of seminary assignment has exhausted me; therefore, I’ll be taking a break from classes until the fall term of 2021. I share that news along with some “Christmas-y” reflections regarding the God who willingly steps into our catastrophic world of sin in order to redeem it. That’s the “reason for the season,” as the cliché goes. That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown!

I’m Brad Gray and I serve as the Senior Pastor of Stonington Baptist Church in Paxinos, Pennsylvania, where I live with my wife Natalie, daughter Lydia, and son Braxton. Besides pastoring, I spend most of my time writing, reading, and ministering in many more ways. I am resolved to faithfully and fervently propagate the gospel of “grace upon grace” for the weary and the worn out. It is my sincerest desire to live and minister all “for the sake of the Name.” (3 Jn 1:7) So long as Christ is exalted, that is enough.
