#80: Loneliness, marathon ministry, and preaching Christ crucified.
In this edition of the Ministry Minded Podcast, I spend some time reflecting on last week’s sermons, which included themes of God’s answer to loneliness and God’s grace for sell-outs. There is something to be said for the way in which all of God’s promises fill up those things which we lack. In Ecclesiastes 4, the Preacher articulates, at length, the frustration of loneliness with which man is afflicted, and, as it often is, which he inflicts upon himself. But where the realities of loneliness “under the sun” might lead one to think that live’s not worth living (Ecc 4:2–3), the gospel offers something better. In fact, it is exactly the news of the gospel and the promise of a Comforter which answers our feelings of loneliness and frustration. (Jn 14:16, 26; 15:26; 16:7) Such is why I am adamant about preaching Christ crucified for the weary and worn out. It’s the only news man needs to hear.

I’m Brad Gray and I serve as the Senior Pastor of Stonington Baptist Church in Paxinos, Pennsylvania, where I live with my wife Natalie, daughter Lydia, and son Braxton. Besides pastoring, I spend most of my time writing, reading, and ministering in many more ways. I am resolved to faithfully and fervently propagate the gospel of “grace upon grace” for the weary and the worn out. It is my sincerest desire to live and minister all “for the sake of the Name.” (3 Jn 1:7) So long as Christ is exalted, that is enough.
